It is little wonder that Co. Kerry is better known as ‘The Kingdom’. Indeed, the small county in Ireland’s south-west has enough culture, charm and natural beauty to fill a small country all by itself! Astounding landscapes are abundant around every corner and the county has held on tight to the Irish traditions of old. You’ll hear the native Gaelic language widely spoken, marvel at road signs in the ancient Celtic script and enjoy the chance to engage with the slow pace of life here.

With Kennedy & Carr, private clients are guaranteed the best of Irish experiences and this two – day Ring of Kerry adventure is no exception. Experience first-hand the highlights of this stunning region, with plenty of hidden treasures to discover along our suggested route. • Day 1: The Ring of Kerry & Killarney

We’ll allocate a late – model private touring vehicle and driver to your party and collect you directly from your Dublin accommodation this morning. You’ll head south, beginning the adventure of a lifetime. We usually recommend you break your journey for a refreshment stop at the quaint and beautiful ‘tidiest town’ of Adare in Co. Limerick – have your camera at the ready to capture the traditional thatched-cottages!

Arriving into ‘The Kingdom’ – we’ll journey along the ‘Ring of Kerry’. Think lush Celtic landscapes, dramatic Atlantic views and ancient, solitary monastic settlements and you’ll begin to get an idea of what the Ring of Kerry experience will be like.

Highlights include Moll’s Gap, the ‘Leprechaun crossing’, Waterville (home of the legendary golf course), Ladies’ View, Lakes of Killarney, enchanting Torc Waterfall and vistas of the Skellig Rocks out in the Atlantic. These jagged rocky outcrops were home to a 6th century Christian monastery and more recently provided a spectacular backdrop for the opening sequence of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

You’ll have a leisurely break for lunch and a comprehensive afternoon tour of the region. Arrive back in Killarney this evening with time for first – class dining and entertainment. Be sure to ask your expert local guide for insider recommendations for places to eat and enjoy some traditional live music.

  • Day 2: The Dingle Peninsula & Wild Atlantic Way

This morning you will be collected from your accommodation after breakfast and visit the nearby Killarney National Park. The area showcases the Co. Kerry landscape at its very best – perhaps take a stroll and enjoy the mountain, lake and waterfall views. Alternatively, should you wish to enjoy a relaxing horseback / horse and cart ride – please let us know well in advance and we’ll make the arrangements for you.

A short onward drive takes us onto the Dingle Peninsula – once anointed the “most beautiful place on earth” by National Geographic. We’ll visit the small fishing village of Dingle, one of the few places in Ireland to have kept true to the traditional, slow – paced lifestyle. You might recognize this Atlantic village as the set of Hollywood classics ‘Far and Away’ and ‘Ryan’s Daughter’.

You’ll also find more pubs in Dingle (per square meter) than any other village in Ireland – so if time permits, you should definitely enjoy a Guinness among the locals in a traditional pub. Beer aficionados might prefer to sample a pint of “Tom Crean’s Dingle Lager”, named after the legendary local explorer and particularly refreshing on a summer’s day.

This afternoon will bring iconic views as we drive around Slea Head, the last parish before the New World. Have your camera at the ready as we take in Sleeping Giant island, Blasket Islands and ancient stone “Beehive Huts” (over 4,000 years old).

Time permitting, the tour may conclude with some leisure time for a pint, a leisurely stroll or the chance to shop for some traditional Irish gifts. As the afternoon comes to a close we’ll turn towards Dublin city (or alternative preselected location of your choice) with fond memories of this 2 day private tour of the Ring of Kerry, Killarney and Dingle Peninsula.
