Breath in the fresh Atlantic air, taste some of the world’s finest seafood and hear locals greet you in the native Gaelic tongue – just a taste of what’s available on our world famous Connemara/Galway 2-day tour.
Set out into the west on this fantastic tour with Kennedy & Carr. We depart Dublin at 8am with a drive through the midland bogs – an important part of Ireland’s landscape and home to many rare flora and fauna species. Reaching the west coast, you’ll enjoy tours of Connemara, Cong and Lough Corrib in the capable hands of our expert guide. Connemara is a magical region, which truly evokes the spirit of ‘old Ireland’.
You’ll be enchanted by the unruly landscapes, haunting valleys and dramatic mountain ranges. Don’t be surprised if the locals greet you with a ‘cupla focail’ (few words) of Gaelic – as the region is one of the last few in Ireland to retain the native tongue. Checking into your Galway city accommodation for the night, we highly recommend you take the free Galway walking tour, during which you can learn more about the history and rich culture of ‘The City of the Tribes’. Enjoy the vibrant nightlife in Galway and raise a pint in one of the many traditional pubs.
Relax over a delicious Irish breakfast this morning – your guide will pick you up at 10am for our second day of touring Ireland’s west coast. We start the day with a scenic drive along the beautiful Galway Bay before making our first stop of the day at the ‘Burren’ region of Co. Clare. This fascinating Karst landscape is a true geological wonder – the world’s only site where flora of Alpine, Arctic and Mediterranean origins grow alongside one another. Continuing our day, we drive along the ‘Wild Atlantic Way’, making a brief photo stop at the early Cistercian monastery site of ‘Corcomroe Abbey’, before reaching the phenomenal ‘Cliffs of Moher’.
A site of incredible natural beauty, the Cliffs have been cited by ‘Lonely Planet’, ‘Condé Nast Traveller’ and more as an absolute must-see while in Ireland. We spend 90 minutes at the cliffs, where you can stroll along the cliff-tops, taking in spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Aran Islands and the Twelve Pins Mountain Range. Its then back on to the tour bus for a final photo stop at the world-famous Bunratty Castle, which dates back to the 15th Century.
