A SHORT INTRODUCTION TO THE TOUR

Castles are one of Ireland’s many iconic symbols and there is none more famous than the beautiful Blarney Castle in county Cork! Kiss the Blarney Stone to acquire the coveted Irish ‘gift of the gab’ (i.e. the art of elaborate and far-fetched storytelling!) We combine the highlight that is Blarney Castle with a range of other notable attractions throughout the region. Included in today’s itinerary is the small coastal village of Cobh, which is home to a poignant Titanic memorial, as well as the southern city of Cork. At Kennedy & Carr tours we are dedicated to giving you an authentic, informative and highly enjoyable experience of our charming emerald isle. Begin you very own private tour experience by reaching out to us today – we look forward to extending our hospitality to your touring party!

Recommended Private Itinerary

Begin the day by meeting your driver and tour leader for the day at the location that’s most convenient for you -it’s time to start driving south to begin your unforgettable private day tour to Blarney Castle and the surrounding region. Enjoy your leisurely transfer south through some of Ireland’s most enchanting landscapes as we make our way closer to our first stop – Cork city. We’ll drive through this thriving southern metropolis – with your guide pointing out some of the most notable highlights. You can then enjoy some free time to do some sightseeing of your own – we recommend checking out the Shandon Bells and the English Market (closed Sundays), which sells some fantastic artisan produce and featured on the official itinerary of Queen Elizabeth II’s historic and poignant state visit to Ireland a few short years ago.

Departing Cork city, we make our way along the scenic coastal road en route to the small town of Cobh. The harbour here was the last port of call for the Titanic before she commenced her tragic transatlantic voyage. Indeed, Cobh was the location which saw droves of Irish emigrants bid farewell to loved ones before leaving their homeland throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Many guests from the USA, Canada & Australia will literally be walking in the footsteps of their forebears. Perhaps stop by the towering St. Coleman’s Cathedral where many would be emigrants paused before boarding the boats. A Titanic memorial and visitor attraction was recently established here which, of course you will have time to peruse before we continue towards Blarney Castle.

Departing Cobh – it’s time to take in the highlight of the day – the enchanting Blarney Castle. Attracting thousands of visitors, the castle is without doubt one of Ireland’s iconic symbols. You’ll have time for a leisurely visit to the fortress, after your guide fills you in on its impressive history. Sprawling gardens encapsulate the castle and during fine weather provide the perfect setting for you to stretch your legs and soak up the atmosphere of this enchanting place. A quick kiss of the Blarney Stone is a must before you continue along your way. Time-permitting, you may wish to browse the tax-free Blarney Woolen Mills – providing shoppers with the perfect chance to pick up some traditional Irish, hand-knitted goods.

After a fantastic day of exploring you’ll be glad of the comfort of your own private tour vehicle for the return journey. Your chauffeur will drop you back to the location of your choice in Dublin, with plenty of time for evening plans!
